Salley’s SPAR Aughnacloy – Sales

For the last 10 years, Salley’s SPAR store in Aughnacloy has been a highly valued asset of the local community. The Salley’s family understood the value in upgrading their PoS system to ensure operational efficiency ran throughout their store. The SPAR store had been running with the PoS system HydraPoS for the last 10 years, therefore, it became essential to upgrade to the latest retail software technology; EDGEPoS. The popular SPAR store is located on the Caledon Road and offers a wide range of services from local produce, PayPoint and Lotto to Fuel and an on-site ATM machine. The Salley’s family plan to develop the store further in the near future by opting for a refit close to the new year.

Fuel

EDGEPoS has enabled the store to integrate all their store offerings such as; Lotto and fuel. Jason describes EDGEPoS as a much more efficient system. Previously we had an issue with fuel working at our site, particularly with drive offs. Thanks to EDGEPoS “our store can offer prepay fuel” this has been a huge improvement; we haven’t had a single drive off. The fuel integration is much more convenient for customers, as they can receive a VAT docket with prepay fuel, saving them time and enhancing the customer experience. In addition to this, we also can offer fuel cards, previously we had only one machine to complete this task, it was more hassle than anything. Nowadays, it is a lot better as all tills have the ability to offer the service. This not only is more convenient, but is a lot safer and secure, minimising the opportunity for fraudulent activity.

Stock management

The reporting aspect of EDGEPoS is great as it enables management to keep an eye on stock control. In the case of fuel, “we no longer have to manually dip fuel to test the levels” this is automatically generated through the sales figures and reported back in EDGEPoS. In addition, it is brilliant to keep track of wastage, the cost of product waste is automatically calculated allowing management to be proactive in decision making about quantities of products.

Service

The EDGEPoS system is much better for service – transactions are much quicker thanks to the picture PLU’s; we don’t have to search through pages of barcodes to manually type in. The multiplying options, look up and speed of the system is much quicker than before. Everything is so much handier.

Sales

EDGEPoS has provided our store with the ability to offer deals in store, this has attracted a lot of customers recently. The store has had double the sales figures in the last week, we believe it is thanks to the store specific coupons we have offered. The latest deal – £1 coffee for 1 week has been a huge attraction to the store.

All in all, the new equipment and system have been great, the system is far handier than before. In particular the Brother reduction wastage printer, this is a great addition to the store. The reduction printer saves time instead of hand writing labels, and price overriding manually. Now this is automatic it eliminates human error. We can compete transactions with ease, from our upgrade to EDGEPoS. EDGEPoS is going to open a lot of new opportunities for us.
