Transforming Efficiency and Peace of Mind at Trainor Brothers SPAR
Corinna and James Trainor opened Trainor Brothers SPAR nearly ten years ago, with no background in retail. Corinna, a nurse for 18 years, brought her caring, people-first approach into the world of retail – and quickly learned that efficiency and attention to detail were just as vital in business as in nursing.
From the beginning, the family partnered with Henderson Technology and were early adopters of new solutions that could improve store operations. When the GLORY cash recycling system was introduced in 2021, Corinna immediately saw its potential.
“From the moment I saw the system, I knew it was what we needed. The GLORY units also provide full visibility of cash movement throughout the day, letting Corinna instantly check balances or resolve any issues. “We used to rely on spreadsheets and camera footage. Now I have total trust in the system – everything balances perfectly. Plus, the machine even picks up fake notes, which is brilliant. Some customers even know not to bother trying them now!”
With cash securely stored within each GLORY unit, theft and loss are no longer concerns. The closed-loop system has removed the need for manual cash handling, creating a more secure and less stressful environment for both management and staff.
“Before GLORY, I was constantly wondering if money had gone missing or if staff had made mistakes,” explains Corinna. “Now, that’s all gone. It’s taken a huge weight off our shoulders.” The system also simplified training for new team members, as cash handling is almost entirely automated. “It takes away the pressure for staff who aren’t confident with money,” says Corinna. “They can focus on what matters most – delivering great customer service.”
Despite adopting advanced technology, Corinna is passionate about maintaining a personal, customer-facing experience. Trainer Brothers SPAR serves a close-knit rural community, and their staff are known for their warmth and friendliness.
“Our customers like to see a friendly face. Glory helps us spend less time worrying about money and more time connecting with people.” Her team took care to guide customers through the transition, especially elderly shoppers who were initially hesitant. “For the first few weeks, we made sure someone was always at the till to help. Now, our pensioners love the machines – they find them easy to use and reliable.”
